Aveika has been crowned Best Restaurant in Newcastle for the second year running at The British Restaurant Awards which took place in London on Wednesday. The British Restaurant Awards were held in London on June 5th and as well as categories that span the whole country, there are awards specific to different cities around the UK.
One of those cities is Newcastle and the shortlist for the Best Restaurant in Newcastle title displayed just what a mix of different cuisines and venues we have here on Tyneside, with Aveika winning the award.
From January 20 - April 5, readers of Chelsea Monthly magazine, The National Post, Brand Weekly and members of the World Restaurant Awards Guide (WRAG) which includes over 117,000 members worldwide were given the opportunity to nominate their favourite restaurants per city, region and throughout the UK.
The restaurants who received the most amount of nominations were shortlisted and released for the public to vote and the winner of Best Restaurant in Newcastle, for the second year in a row is Quayside Restaurant Aveika.
It saw off competition from House of Tides, The Herb Garden , 21, Lola Jeans, Hanahana, Portofino, Bistro Forty Six, Jesmond, Branches, Jesmond, Simla.
Celebrating Aveika's success, Gainford Group owner Imran Khaliq said “Aveika are once again thrilled to have won this award and would like to thank our wonderful customers for their continued support and all of the staff for their hard work.”
