Luxury rooftop cinema to open in Newcastle as 00s classic announced as first movie

If, when it comes to going to the movies, you like to do things in style, a new cinema experience will launch in Newcastle later this month that looks set to be the height of luxury. And it's going to open at the top of one of the city's most famous hotels.

Going to see a film is something loads of us love to do whenever we can, whether it's to end up throwing our popcorn everywhere while watching the latest much talked about horror, cry into our nachos at an emotional drama or laugh our heads off at a comedy. And, as we edge closer towards this year's Oscars, The Sky High Cinema Club looks set to deliver an award-winning experience in the stunning surroundings of plush rooftop bar Above at the top of The Vermont Hotel.

No stranger to giving the VIP treatment to its guests, having hosted a number of star-studded events like the Newcastle United Carabao Cup parade celebration and the Mercury Prize after party in the last 12 months alone, Above is inviting people to book up for a cinema experience they'll have never had before. The Sky High Cinema Club will be a place where rooftop views, great food and iconic movies come together for what is promised to be an 'unforgettable evening.

The Cinema Club will launch on Wednesday, February 25 and the team there have picked a great film to get it all started, with it confirmed on Wednesday night that the first movie to be shown at Above will be 00s classic Coyote Ugly. The film, released in 2000, that had us all shouting "HELL NO H20!" is also famous for its fantastic soundtrack, including huge LeAnn Rimes number 1 Can't Fight The Moonlight.

The experience, costing £45 per person, will see guests served a cocktail or mocktail on arrival, before enjoying a two course meal while the film is on. More dates have already been announced for March 5 and 6, with a teaser of what to expect reading: 'Whether you’re planning a date night, girls’ night out or something different midweek, Sky High Cinema Club offers a glamorous twist on movie night, all set against stunning rooftop views.'
