Easter is very nearly upon us and if you're looking for somewhere to enjoy a sophisticated bite to eat or some thirst quenching tipples, there's a new restaurant opening in Newcastle right on cue for Bank Holiday weekend.
The Maven is a brand-new restaurant, opening on the 6th floor of the famous Vermont Hotel in the heart of Newcastle city centre, and joins Gainford Groups range of existing bars and restaurants including Aveika, Livello and The Hudson.
The Group’s Executive Chef, Ken Thompson (formerly of Cafe21) has been working with new head chef, Kris Campbell (formerly head chef at The Earl of Pitt Street) to create a new and exciting menu inspired from dishes around the world.
Giving diners a flavour of what to expect, Head Chef, Kris Campbell teased “The Food at The Maven is an eclectic range of dishes from around the world; something to suit everyone.
"I like the idea of creating an environment where you can either come in for afternoon tea, a north Indian curry, a traditional fish and chips or relax in the Redwood with a Greek style mezze sharing board.
"I want the food to represent the international clientele which the hotel attracts and to break down the ‘barriers’ that currently exist that may put people off coming to a ‘hotel’ restaurant.”
The VIP Launch of The Maven will take place on Thursday, April 18 with the public opening taking place on Good Friday, April 19.
